“Rorate, caeli, desuper, et nubes pluant justum, aperiatur terra, et germinet Salvatorem.”
“Drop down dew, ye heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain the just: let the earth be opened and bud forth a Saviour.”
Beauty so ancient, so sober, so holy - a Rorate Caeli Mass
is a traditional votive Mass in honor of the Blessed Virgin
Mary which takes place during Advent. The ritual of this
early morning Mass emphasizes, for us frail human beings,
the season’s joyful wait for Our Lord Jesus Christ. As the
sun rises and illuminates the Church, lit only by
candlelight, we are poignantly reminded of our wait for His
Son - the light of the world. “Drop down ye heavens from
above” - come pray with us.
Mass will begin with a candlelight procession from Fr. Bart Hall at 7 AM. Morning twilight is expected at 7:36AM with
sunrise at 8:08AM. There will be a light breakfast in the hall immediately following.
